We are sometimes asked to recommend hotels in Barcelona by clients who have purchased FC Barcelona tickets, specifically hotels near to Camp Nou stadium.
Bear in mind that having lived in Barcelona for nearly a decade means no direct experience of staying in any of Barcelona’s hotels, but below are a selection of five recommended hotels based on proximity to FC Barcelona’s stadium, reputation and services offered.
NH Rallye ***
Travessera De Les Corts, 150
This is probably the closest hotel to the Nou Camp and so idea if you’re just going for the football. This 3-star hotel is also close to the metro (less than 5 minutes walk), so easy to get into the city centre and see the sights. It has an outdoor pool and gym and all the usual facilities.
Hotel Spa Senator Barcelona ****
Cardenal Reig, 11
This 4-star hotel is less than a kilometre from the Nou Camp and a bit out of the way of the metro to make it really convenient to get around by other than taxi. It is an easy walk to the stadium but on the edge of the city, so you get little feel for Barcelona. The downside is that they don’t accept ticket deliveries for clients.
Hotel Barcelo Sants ****
Pl Dels Paisos Catalans
It’s set right on top of Sants Station, which makes it really easy to get around the city. Although it is 1.5km from the stadium, the walk is easy to navigate and you have the option of the metro too. A bit soulless in some respects, but the neighbourhood is lively with some great bars and restaurants. I lived nearby until 2004.
Princesa Sofia Gran Hotel *****
Pl Pio Xii 4
The Princesa Sofia is on Av. Diagonal, one of Barcelona’s main arterial routes, and close enough to the metro to allow easy travel to the centre. It’s a short walk to the Nou Camp and offers all the facilities expected from a 5-star hotel.
Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I *****
Avd Diagonal 661-671
Around a kilometre from the stadium, the Rey Juan Carlos I offers first class service and is close to the metro on Av Diagonal. It is right on the edge of the city though, so if you prefer something that gives you more of a flavour of Barcelona this isn’t really it.
The choice of hotels near the Nou Camp is extremely limited and personally I would stay somewhere more central, but if you’re looking for a hotel close to the stadium I hope you find it useful. The map above shows the five hotels mentioned above in relation to the Nou Camp, if you click on the markers you can see the hotel name, address and reviews.
