Barcelona tops Group D after beating Sporting Lisbon

September 28, 2017

A second half own goal by Sebastian Coates was enough for Barcelona to earn another three points to top Group D of Champions League.

Despite good opportunities for both Leo Messi and Luis Suarez in the away match against Sporting Lisbon, the first half ended goalless. But just a few minutes after the break Coates put the ball into his own net after Suarez attempted to score from a Messi free kick. That’s all that was needed to secure the three points.

Barcelona’s next Champions League match is a home fixture against Olympiakos on 18th October.

0-1 Coates (min 49)
