Knocked out by JuveApril 20, 2017
After their 3-0 defeat in Turin last week it was looking likely that Barcelona wouldn’t make it past the quarter-final stage of the 2017 Champions League. But as they showed against Paris-Saint Germain, sometimes Barça deliver the goods against all the odds.
Last night though Barcelona was unable to stage another dramatic comeback. And so it came to pass with a goalless draw in which Juventus focused on preventing the Catalans from scoring. This strategy worked well with Barça creating few real chances. Those that came the Barcelona trident was unable to do anything with and in the end there was only one shot on target.
Although Juventus also failed to score, it was their night. FC Barcelona has had such an inconsistent season with some very poor performances followed by completely knock out football. The two matches against PSG are a case in point. But at the moment it looks like the only silverware they’ll manage this year is the Copa del Rey. And I’m not sure I’d bet on them doing that.
