Outclassed by Juventus in TurinApril 12, 2017
Barcelona’s Champions League fixture in Turin last night once again saw the Catalans far from their best. While Barça dominated possession, they just didn’t seem to have what it takes to make that possession count. They hardly threatened the hosts’ goal all night.
Right from the start Juventus looked to be the far better side and it was hardly a surprise when Dybala scored the opener just seven minutes in. And after 22 minutes he extended that lead. At the half hour mark it looked like Messi had finally scored for Barcelona. However the goal disallowed as Suarez was offside.
The second half saw more of the same with Chiellini scoring Juve’s third goal of the night 10 minutes after the break. The Catalans made some half-hearted attempts on the Italian’s goal but got nowhere. In the end it was inevitable that Barcelona would end the match without having scored.
Of course it’s not the first time this season that Barcelona has been in this position in the Champions League. It’s something of a miracle that they turned around the 4-0 deficit against PSG to make it this far. But do they have it in them to do it again?
1-0 Dybala (min 7)
2-0 Dybala (min 22)
3-1 Chiellini (min 55)
Finally, let’s not forget that former teammate Marc Bartra was injured in the attack on the Borussia Dortmund team bus last night. A swift and full recovery is the most important result anyone should hope for.
