Barcelona through to Copa del Rey finalFebruary 11, 2016
Let’s face it, the job of qualifying for the Copa del Rey final was done last week at the Nou Camp when Barcelona beat Valencia 7-0 in a humiliating defeat. Given that the final was a certainty it is little surprise that the match saw a host of reserve players given the opportunity to don the blaugrana shirt.
Barcelona had a couple of chances early on but in the end it was Negredo who scored for Valencia towards the end of the first half. The second half saw little action until towards the end when Kaptoum scored for Barcelona soon after coming on. While it was at best damage limitation for Valencia, last night’s draw means the Catalans are now 29 matches without defeat, a record in Spanish football.
Barcelona will face either Sevilla or Celta de Vigo in the final. It is currently scheduled for Saturday 21st May, but previous years have seen the date (and venue) changed at the last minute.
1-0 Negredo (min 38)
1-1 Kaptoum (min 82)
