Munir and Neymar score against Athletic BilbaoJanuary 21, 2016
Last night saw Barça win the second of their three January matches against Athletic Bilbao, this one the first leg of the Copa del Rey quarter-finals.
The first goal came in the 17th minute, when Rakitic scrossed the ball to Munir, who put the ball into the Athletic net. Soon after it was Neymar’s turn, when the Brazilian made the most of an error by the Athletic keeper and knocked the ball into an undefended goal.
Although Barcelona had a number of opportunities to score, they were unable to do so and missing from the match were Messi and Suarez, the former as a precaution because of the discomfort in his leg last weekend and Suarez though suspension. Although the Catalans were unable to increase their lead over the home side, Aduriz helped Athletic close the gap a few minutes from the end.
While far from a done deal, Barcelona certainly has the psychological edge going into the home leg next week. And after scoring twice at San Mamés, it will be an uphill struggle for the Basques.
0-1 Munir (min 17)
0-2 Neymar (min 24)
1-2 Aduriz (min 87)
