Back on form against RayoOctober 19, 2015
After two defeats in three league matches, Barcelona showed they can triumph even with Messi sidelined through injury. Neymar scored two goals in each half, the first two from the penalty spot. In doing so he became the leading goal scorer in the league this season and also equalled, and then overtook, the goal tally of Barça legend Johan Cruyff.
Javi Guerra opened the scoring just before the quarter hour mark to put Rayo Vallecano in front, but that lead would not last long. Neymar equalised from the penalty spot six minutes later after being fouled in the area and 10 minutes later put Barça ahead after a second penalty. Both teams had further opportunities but going into the break the score remained 2-1 to the Catalans.
The second half started with Rayo going all out for a second goal and looked to be getting the better of Barcelona. Again and again and again they attacked the Barcelona goal, but Claudio Bravo was always there. Almost 20 minutes into the second half Suarez shot from the centre of the box only to see it saved. But Neymar was there to scored his third of the night off the deflection. Just a minute later Suarez fed Neymar the ball for what was his fourth goal of the match.
While Barcelona might have been happy enough with that goal tally, but with 15 minutes to go Neymar returned the favour for Suarez to make it 5-1. Rayo were not yet finished though and with greater possession that the home team continued to pressurise the Barça goal at every opportunity. In the end it finally paid off for Jozabed to claw back a goal for Rayo to end the match 5-2.
