Barça beats Real Sociedad after 2 goal deficitJanuary 15, 2018
Real Sociedad must have thought the game was theirs on Sunday night when they went two goals ahead in the first 25 minutes. However, a goal from Paulinho late in the first half saw their lead eroded as they went into the break and three second half goals saw FC Barcelona turn the game around completely.
Barça’s first goal was off a Suarez assist, but five minutes into the second half the Uruguayan was on the score sheet. Twenty minutes later he put Barça into the lead off a Thomas Vermaelen’s header.
And Messi made sure there was no last minute reprieve for the hosts when he scored five minutes from full time from a free kick.
1-0 Da Silva (min 11)
2-0 Juanmi (min 34)
2-1 Paulinho (min 39)
2-2 Suárez (min 50)
2-3 Suárez (min 71)
2-4 Messi (min 85)
The result leaves Barcelona nine points clear of Atletico Madrid at the top of the table, with Valencia in third on 40 and Real Madrid eight points behind them on 32 points. Madrid still has one game in hand because of the Club World Cup, but even winning that won’t do much to close the gap now. The main question now is how soon Barça will clinch the title. Just don’t ask me to do the maths on that!
