Barça retains points gap at top of La Liga

April 23, 2009

Barcelona thrashed third place Sevilla last night in an exciting midweek game at the Nou Camp, while Real Madrid narrowly beat Getafe 3-2 to remain six points behind.

With Leo Messi sidelined with a stomach bug, Inienta pulled out all the stops and provided the first goal in the 2nd minute. While Sevilla did provide some anxious moments for Barça, they were never able to capitalise on them and so Eto’o provided the second goal in minute 16.

With the game ng Barcelona’s way, they remained focused and possession remained at around 65%, providing a superb display of teamwork. The third goal came as a result of this with some excellent ball handling from Henry, Eto’o and Iniesta, with the goal scored by Xavi in the 48th minute.

With the game all but won, Henry scored the final goal just eight minutes later, providing an excellent display of football and excellent result to a packed Camp Nou.

1-0 Iniesta (min 2)
2-0 Eto’o (min 16)
3-0 Xavi (min 48)
4-0 Henry (min 54)
