Barça takes three points in city derbyApril 27, 2015
First half goals from Neymar and Messi were enough to ensure the Barcelona derby went to Barça despite playing most of the second half against Espanyol with 10 men.
Barcelona went on the attack from the start, with attempts at opening the scoring from Neymar and Suarez saved inside 5 minutes, while Espanyol hardly threatened at all. Just after the quarter hour Neymar opened the scoring when Messi, Alba and Suarez joined forces to set up the goal. Less than 10 minutes later Iniesta started the move that saw Suarez set up the second goal, put into the Espanyol net by Messi.
Barça kept the pressure up after the break, but 10 minutes into the second half Jorda Alba received his marching orders after being shown a second yellow card after protesting. While Espanyol created a couple of chances, they were unable to break Barça’s dominence, although they were unable to get things together to score again. And with four minutes of injury time added to play Espanyol saw Héctor Moreno sent off after receiving his second yellow of the match for the same reason as Alba.
0-1 Neymar (min 16)
0-2 Messi (min 24)
