Barcelona draws against Deportivo as Xavi bows out from La LigaMay 25, 2015
With the league title already in the bag, Barcelona had nothing to prove in this weekend’s match against Deportivo. All that was left to do was for players and fans to celebrate another title and to salute Xavi, who this week announced he was to leave the club after playing an incredible 17 seasons for the club having made his la liga debut for Barça in 1998.
Barcelona took an early lead after Messi scored the opener after 4 minutes, and it was the Argentine who scored Barcelona’s second goal at the 60 minute mark. That lead was not to last long though with Lucas Pérez clawing one goal back for Deportivo followed less than 10 minutes later by an equaliser by Salomao.
While it may have not been the way players and fans would have wished to finish the season, it did little to dampen enthusiasm in the stadium. With the league now finished Barcelona has the finals of the Copa del Rey on 30th May and the Champions League on 6th June.
