Barcelona move one step closer to Spanish League title

May 11, 2015

With just three fixtures to go until the end of the season and with two points between league leaders Barcelona and arch-rival Real Madrid it is essential for the Catalans to win every point they can to guarantee the title. In Saturday’s match against Real Sociedad that’s exactly what they did thanks to second half goals from Neymar and Pedro.

Although Barcelona kept the Real Sociedad defence and keeper busy during the first half, it wasn’t until five minutes into the second half that Neymar scored his 50th goal for Barça off a Messi cross that the Real Sociedad defence was unable to clear. However, although they were ahead, Barcelona didn’t seem to be able to pull things together enough to score a second goal and secure the three points.

However, with Pedro brought on in place of Rafinha he scored a spectacular goal just minutes from the end after a shot from Messi was blocked.

1-0 Neymar (min 50)
2-0 Pedro (min 84)
