Goals from Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez wasn’t enough to secure a win for Barcelona on Saturday afternoon when they played host to Celta Vigo. Iago Aspas scored the opener for the visitors 20 minutes into the first half, only to see Messi equalise soon after. Luis Suarez appeared to score only to see his goal ruled offside.

Suarez finally put the Catalans ahead just after the hour only to see González level the scores with twenty minutes to go. And in the closing minutes of the match Messi got his head to the ball only to see it go wide.

0-1 Iago Aspas (min 20)
1-1 Messi (min 22)
2-1 Suárez (min 62)
2-2 Gómez González (min 70)

Despite the draw, Barcelona extended their lead at the top of the table to five points after Valencia were beaten by Getafe. And Real Madrid are now two points behind Atletico after being held to a goalless draw against Athletic Bilbao.
