Defeated by SevillaOctober 5, 2015
Sevilla walked away with three points on Saturday after getting the better of Barcelona. The Catalan club is suffering from the transfer ban that runs until January and without Leo Messi, injured last week.
Barça last faced Sevilla in the European Supercup at the beginning of August. That match was notable for the high goal tally, with Barcelona beating Sevilla 5-4. Saturday’s match was quite different, with Sevilla’s opening goal coming early in the second half, scored by Krohn-Dehli. Minutes later Iborra put the hosts 2-0 ahead.
Barcelona showed relatively low possession compared with many matches this season, but despite this there were some good opportunities. Neymar came close in the first half, only to see the ball run along the goal line from post to post and Suarez hit the crossbar towards the end of the first half.
After the break, Neymar came close again on two occasions, both times with his head. But it wasn’t until a penalty was awarded for handball in the area that Neymar clawed one back. Sandro came close to equalising in the closing minutes of the match but in the end Barcelona were just not capable of scoring again.
1-0 Krohn-Dehli (min 51)
2-0 Iborra (min 57)
2-1 Neymar (min 73)
