La Liga suspension lifted

May 14, 2015

The planned suspension of La Liga due to come into effect this weekend has been called off by a Spanish court.

The suspension was called because of a law introduced by the Spanish government with the support of the LFP (the Spanish football league association) to stipulate that TV rights should be negotiated collectively rather than on a club by club basis as is now the case, with the aim of distributing revenues more fairly.

The RFEF and player¡s association disagreed with the new law and called for a suspension and strike, which would have postponed Barcelona’s now almost inevitable league title.
