Lacklustre Barcelona beats Malaga

October 23, 2017

Saturday saw Malaga travel to the Catalan capital for face FC Barcelona at Camp Nou. With a single draw as their best result this season the visitors were unlikely to be much of a problem for Barça. But despite dominating possession, the hosts did surprisingly little with the ball to make it count.

Deulofeu controversially put Barcelona ahead in the second minute after the ball appeared to have gone out of play. Messi set up Iniesta for Barça’s second goal early in the second half, but something was lacking and really they should have been able to do more.

Suarez came close with fifteen minutes remaining but what looked like a sure thing went wide off a Sergi Roberto assist. In the end it was enough, but Barcelona far from their best.

1-0 Deulofeu (min 2)
2-0 Iniesta (min 56)

The result leaves Barcelona topping the table with a four point lead over Valencia. Real Madrid are five points behind the Catalans in third place.
