Messi scores 400th goal for Barça in 2-0 victory against ValenciaApril 20, 2015
Goals at the start and end of the match from Suarez and Messi saw Barcelona beat Valencia 2-0 on Saturday and retain their two point advantage at the top of the league.
Barcelona’s first attack on the Valencia goal happened almost immediately when Lionel Messi collected the ball from midfield and took it forward into the Valencia area before leaving it to Suarez to score the opener inside the first 60 seconds of the game. Valencia almost immediately went on the attack but failed to capitalise on a number of chances, including a penalty kicked by Daniel Parejo, which was saved by Bravo. Messi came close to scoring his 400th goal for Barça towards the end of the first half, but the scoreline at the break remained 1-0.
Despite a number of chances in the second half the pace slowed down and it looked as if the match would end with just a single goal. However, four minutes into injury time Messi took a shot only to see it blocked by the Valencia keeper but a second attempt put it into the back of the net.
1-0 Suárez (min 1)
