Narrow victory over GranadaOctober 31, 2016
With three draws and no wins to their name this season, it looked like the result of Saturday’s match against Granada was a forgone conclusion. However, anyone expecting to see another goal-fest from the Catalans would have been sorely disappointed.
Despite dominating possession, Barça were incapable of making the most of the few chances they had. There were a handful of opportunities in the first half, but none of them came to anything. In the end fans had to wait until early in the second half for the only goal of the match. When Neymar struck the post just minutes after the break Rafinha pounced to break the deadlock.
Suarez looked like he might add to the goal tally on a number of occasions, but each time the Granada keeper got to the ball. And Neymar had good opportunity to score shortly after the hour off a Sergi Roberto cross, only to see his attempt saved.
In the end Barcelona had to make do with that single goal, but at least they walked away with three more valuable points. However, the players must be disappointed not to have seen more goals, particularly ahead of their clash against Man City on Tuesday.

Sevilla’s draw against Sporting means Barcelona now occupy the number two spot in the table. They trail Real Madrid by two points, with Atletico Madrid and Sevilla both a single point behind.
