Straightforward win against Las PalmasMay 15, 2017 Leave your thoughts
Barcelona’s Sunday night match against Las Palmas was about as straightforward as they come, a comfortable win against a team that was never going to bare their teeth against the Catalans.
Neymar scored the opener 25 minutes into the match off an assist by Luis Suarez and two minutes later returned the favour to make it 2-0. Nearly 20 minutes into the second half Boateng set up a goal for Pedro Bigas, but four minutes later Neymar headed in a Rakitic cross. Another four minutes and he made it a hat-trick off an assist by Jordi Alba.
Gerard Pique was absent due to abdominal pain that saw him admitted to hospital. Released on Sunday it is hoped he will be fit for next weekend’s match against Eibar.
0-1 Neymar (min 25)
0-2 Suárez (min 27)
1-2 Bigas (min 63)
1-3 Neymar (min 67)
1-4 Neymar (min 71)
The result leaves Barcelona heading the table, but Madrid are neck and neck with them after comfortably beating Sevilla. They also play Celta Vigo on Wednesday, a match postponed from February due to wind damage to Celta’s stadium. The only way for Barça to win the league is for Madrid to lose one of their two remaining matches.
