Suarez scores hat-trick against Celta

February 15, 2016

With score standing at 1-1 and with the memory of a 4-1 loss against Luis Enrique’s former club in September, the Nou Camp faithful had little indication going into the break of what was to come. And with two out of the last three matches against Celta ending in defeat, Sunday night’s game could have gone either way.

Messi scored the opener from a free kick 27 minutes into the match, but Guidetti equalised 10 minutes later from the penalty spot after being tripped up by Jordi Alba.

Suarez put Barça ahead again early in the second half off an assist by Messi. Quarter of an hour later Suarez scored his second of the night. And then minutes later Messi, kicking from the penalty spot, tapped the ball to Suarez. With Celta completely unprepared for such a move Suarez made it a hat-trick to put Barcelona ahead 4-1.

With three points pretty much tied up there was still time enough in the 10 minutes remaining for Rakitic and then Neymar to each add a goal to Barcelona’s tally, both assisted by Suarez. The latest result means Barcelona now have a run of 30 matches without defeat.

1-0 Messi (min 27)
1-1 Guidetti (min 38)
2-1 Suárez (min 57)
3-1 Suárez (min 73)
4-1 Suárez (min 80)
5-1 Rakitic (min 82)
6-1 Neymar (min 89)
