Weekend roundup

May 7, 2007

Sunday saw a change in the 2nd and 3rd places in the league after Real Madrid beat Sevilla 3-2 in Santiago Bernabeu last night. Ideally for FC Barcelona this exciting clash would have ended in a draw, but last night’s result means that Madrid remain two points behind Barcelona, and have jumped two ahead of Sevilla. The season is far from over and Barcelona must remain focused, work hard and need a little bit of luck to pull this season off.

Ronaldinho fans will be happy to know that their favourite player seems to be making an impact at the moment. Although he didn’t score either of the goals on Saturday against Real Sociedad, he did set both goals up.

Next in the FC Barcelona schedule is the Copa del Rey match against Getafe on Thursday followed by Betis visiting the Nou Camp on Sunday. The weekend after that they visit Atletico de Madrid, currently in sixth position and a team that should never be underestimated.

To sum things up: this season is winnable for Barça, but they’re a long way from sealing the results. Visca Barça!
