Barça wins first leg of 2016 Spanish SupercupAugust 15, 2016
Barcelona went a good way towards winning the Spanish Supercup last night, winning the first leg with two second half goals. The team was pretty much at full strength with Neymar absent to play for Brazil in the Olympics.
Both teams looked determined to win the first leg, played in Seville, but despite their best efforts the match remained goalless at the end of the first 45 minutes. Barça was made to suffer though, with Iniesta and Mathieu both substituted after picking up injuries. Both players will be assessed by medical staff today.
Nine minutes into the second half Arda Turan set up Luis Suarez to score the opener. Despite a number of other opportunities, the Catalans were unable to extend their lead though until nine minutes from full time. Messi passed to Munir, who scored the second of the night.
The second leg will be played at Camp Nou on Wednesday night at 23:00 local time.
0-1 Suárez (min 54)
0-2 Munir (min 81)
