First leg of Spanish Supercup goes to MadridAugust 14, 2017
After a string of wins in the pre-season, last night was Barcelona’s first chance to show what they could do for real. The first leg of the Spanish Supercup had plenty of thrills and spills, with both sides going all out in the first half. But however much they tried the first half ended without a goal from either.
Five minutes into the second half though Barcelona’s game began to unravel though when Gerard Pique put the ball into his own net to put Madrid ahead. Messi levelled the score only to see Cristiano Ronaldo put Madrid back in the lead soon after. His celebrations though earned him a second yellow card. Asensio put the match completely out of reach right on 90 minutes giving Real Madrid the clear advantage going into the second leg. But as Barça has shown in the past, don’t write them off quite yet.
0-1 Piqué (min 50)
1-1 Messi (min 77)
1-2 Ronaldo (min 80)
1-3 Asensio (min 90)
