Ronaldinho: Why I joined Barcelona over Man Utd [Times Live]

December 5, 2014

Brazilian star Ronaldinho has recently been talking to the press about his time at Barça. The player was a joy to watch when at his peak, although he seemed to run out of steam far too quickly. He was certainly loved by Barça’s fans.

In this article he says an agreement to move to Manchester United was agreed in principal. However, he decided on FC Barcelona when his friend, Sandro Rossell, joined the Barça board. The article incorrectly says Rossell became president; in fact Joan Laporta was president then, with Rossell as his deputy.

They later fell out and Rossell was voted president after Laporta left the club, only to resign after the Neymar transfer scandal.
